A couple suspected of murdering a 27-year-old Ukrainian woman in Germany and kidnapping her child had been plotting the crime for months.

On Wednesday, March 13, a man and a woman were arrested in the Rhine-Neckar district of Germany on suspicion of murdering a young woman, reports Focus Online. Initially, it was reported that two men had been arrested, but it was later clarified that the suspects were a 44-year-old German man and a woman from Russia. The couple is currently being held in a detention center. The mother of the murdered Ukrainian woman is still missing and has been reported as such.

Evidence suggests that the German man and the Russian woman had been planning the murder of the Ukrainian woman for a long time. The 44-year-old man, who works as a butcher, told his neighbors about his newborn baby, who was supposedly in intensive care. According to Bild, an acquaintance of the family shared:

"The couple have three sons, and the husband told me in December that they were expecting a girl in January. He proudly showed me a pink baby hat for the child. I was surprised because his wife didn't look pregnant at all. But I never expected such a crime. This couple was always very polite and seemed nice," said a neighbor of the suspects.

We remind you that the body of a 27-year-old refugee from Ukraine was found near the city of Hockenheim on the dam of the Rhine. According to BILD, the murdered woman's newborn daughter, who was only five weeks old, and her mother, 51-year-old Maryna Stetsenko, were initially reported missing.
