The United States is set to furnish Ukraine with its most substantial military aid package yet, valued at $6 billion.

 

It will include Patriot air defense systems.

Politico, citing sources, has reported that the aid package could be unveiled as soon as Friday, April 26. It is said to comprise Patriot air defense systems, artillery ammunition, UAVs, countermeasures against drones, and air-to-air missiles designated for installation on fighter jets such as the awaited F-16s in Ukraine.

It has also been revealed that Madrid is readying a fresh arms package scheduled for June 30. The package entails the transfer of 10 Leopard 2 A4 battle tanks along with a shipment of missiles intended for Patriot systems. El Pais reported this development the previous day.

Previously, the media had conveyed that Western capitals were urging Spain and Greece to transfer their Patriot systems to Ukraine.

El Pais reported that Spain has declined to provide its air defense systems to Ukraine, arguing that they represent the only effective defense in the event of a missile attack.

Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis stated in an interview with Iefimerida that Greece has also affirmed its refusal to supply its Patriot and S-300 air defense systems.

He emphasized that while Greece has supported Ukraine with defense materials, it cannot afford to relinquish air defense systems crucial for safeguarding its own airspace.
